Partner Tom FitzGibbon assisted a Firm client in the seafood processing business and the Crescent City Harbor District in avoiding significant penalties under the California Water Code at a hearing before the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. Instead of paying penalties, the Harbor District was authorized to use the bulk of the penalty amount to complete a compliance project at its wastewater treatment plant. This result means that the environment will be protected through treatment plant upgrades and the District will be able to continue to serve the seafood processing industry in Crescent City, which will preserve many jobs in that community.
